- Media is a container or means of conveying information from sender to receiver. Media are also all forms and channels that can be used in a process of presenting information.
Media has an important role in communication and education. In communication, the media can act as a source of information, information itself, and receive information.
In education, the media functions as a physical means of delivering material and a messenger. Thus the media acts as a teaching tool that is used to help convey subject matter in the teaching and learning process so as to facilitate the achievement of learning objectives that have been formulated by the teacher.
The learning method is a systematic and orderly process carried out by educators in delivering material to their students. With this method of learning, it is hoped that the teaching and learning process can run well.
In learning,there are many kinds of methods that can be used.Some examples of learning media namely,lecture method,discussion method,question and answer method,demonstration method,practice method,design method,experimental method,jigsaw learning method,team teaching method,and contextual teaching and learning.
- Technology is related to the teaching and learning process as an effective and efficient medium in the teaching and learning process. As a learning medium, technology is associated with various activities that are used to access, collect, manipulate, and present or communicate information. The intended technology includes equipment (such as computers, laptops, and other devices), software applications and circuits (for example internet, WiFi, local network infrastructure.
- The use of technology in teaching and learning of foreign language like English has always dominated the pedagogical debates and discussions and made the luminaries and pedagogues in the field to investigate the possible advantages and implications of this technology for effective and dynamic teaching and learning of foreign language like English.
However, with the emergence of the first generation of personal computers in the 1980s, the use of computer technology in education, in general, and in EFL classrooms in particular, was accelerated.As this use proved faithful,producing positive results in teaching,learning and testing processes,it paved the way to further research on possible exploitation of this technology for achieving maximum results.This resulted in people from varied fields like computer engineers and software designers,applied linguists,academicians,language teachers,and assessment specialists to join the hands to use this technology for making teaching and learning of foreign languages like English more innovative,dynamic,interactive,interesting,easy and learner-centered.
